GAD Resource Center holds 2nd聽GAD Research Conference; sponsors Seminar-Workshop on Gender Mainstreaming in the University
The 每日大赛网址首页进入 Gender and Development (GAD) Resource Center held its 2nd聽GAD Research Conference at the Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic Resources, Research, Development and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC) Conference Room, 7 June.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Ruel M. Mojica, OIC, Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension and Continuing Education (OVPRECETS), expressed his full support to all research and extension undertakings of GAD.
With the theme, 鈥淪trengthening Gender and Development in the University through Research鈥�, eight research papers were presented, with five papers from the College of Criminal Justice (CCJ), two from the College of Economics, Management and Development Studies (CEMDS), and one from the College of Nursing (CON). The following research papers emerged as winners: 鈥淕ender-Based Differentiation among Coffee Growers in Selected Areas in Cavite鈥�,by Marvelle R. Atienza, Shimitha Rose B. Ikuta, and Nelia C. Cresino – 1st聽Place and Best Paper Award; 鈥淕ender Analysis of Barangay Councilors in Selected Towns of District VII in Cavite鈥�, by Sean FredrichSalting, Johnmer Salazar and Marietta C. Mojica – 2nd聽Place; and 鈥淰iolence Against Women and Children in the Province of Cavite: A Spatio-Temporal Pattern鈥�, by Karl Michael B. Imperial, Pearl Angela F. Mercado, Christine Paula R. Pante, and Famela Iza-Cabe Matic – 3rd听笔濒补肠别.
The panel of evaluators was composed of Ms. Monette S. Santos, Ms. Caridad S. Merced, and Ms. Almira G. Magcawas, while 20 males and 40 females or a total of 60 GAD coordinators and alternates, students, and alumni attended the said conference.
Moreover, a 鈥楽eminar-Workshop on Gender Mainstreaming in the University鈥�, also sponsored by the Center, was participated by the members of the Administrative Council, that took place at Hannah鈥檚 Garden Event Place, Calamba City, Laguna, 19 鈥� 20 June.
University President Dr. Hernando D. Robles, in his welcome message, informed the Council that the University is on its way to gender mainstreaming.
The activity was divided into two parts: Gender Analysis Using Harmonized GAD Guidelines and Planning Workshop. Ms. Lovely S. Mores, NEDA Region IV-A senior economic development staff, started the first day with the discussion on Gender Analysis and Use of Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines. It was followed by a workshop on project identification and designing, project implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation, and identification of the parts of program/project proposal and accomplishment report.
The second day was devoted on the presentation of the proposed organizational structure of the following major units: Academic Affairs by Dr. Camilo A. Polinga; Research, Extension, Continuing Education and Training Services by Dr. Ruel M. Mojica; Administrative and Support Services by Dr. Henry O. Garcia; External and Business Affairs by Dr. Julio G. Alava; and the Office of the University President by Dr. Hernando D. Robles.
CvSU TRAINING OF TRAINERS ON LAWS ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CASE MANAGEMENT OF VICTIMS OF ABUSES
The 每日大赛网址首页进入 Gender and Development Resource Center spearheaded the conduct of Training of Trainers on Laws on Violence Against Women and Case Management of Victims of Abuses July 11-12, 2017 at the STAARDEC Conference Room, 每日大赛网址首页进入, Indang, Cavite.
The resource speakers during the training were Ms. Shirlyn M. Rom, GAD-RC Staff, (GAD Orientation), Dr. Susan G. Tan, GAD Chair for Extension (Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 and Anti-Rape Law of 1997), PSI Xelacor Marie C. Garcia, Committee on Women鈥檚 and Children Protection Center, Cavite Provincial Police Office (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003), Ms. Precyl T. Ramos, Social Welfare Officer III, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (Case Management and Referral System), and Ms. Merlie C. Nahilat, GAD Coordinator of College of Arts and Sciences (Case Management in Handling Sexually Abused Women and Children).
The training was attended by 7 male and 32 female college/campus/ unit GAD Coordinators and Guidance Counsellors.聽(SMRom)
BULACAN STATE UNIVERSITY VISITS THE CAVITE STATE UNIVERSITY GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT RESOURCE CENTER
In line with the desire of Bulacan State University to strengthen their gender mainstreaming operations and processes, the university GFPS members conducted a benchmarking activity at CvSU-Gender and Development Resource Center on July 19, 2017. The activity was attended by 2 male and 10 female members of the Executive Committee, Technical Working Group, College/Campus Coordinators, and GAD Advocates.
Dr. Nelia C. Cresino, Director, GAD, oriented the BSU-GFPS team on the GAD Best Practices of CvSU with emphasis on the 4 entry points to gender mainstreaming such as policies, people, enabling mechanisms, and programs, projects, and activities.聽(SMRom)
CAVITE STATE UNIVERSITY CONDUCTS TRAINING-WORKSHOP聽ON DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
In support for the National Disaster Consciousness Month, the 每日大赛网址首页进入 conducted training-workshop on disaster preparedness on July 31 to August 2, 2017 at the SM Rolle Hall, 每日大赛网址首页进入, Indang Cavite.The training-workshop aims to assess the risks and vulnerabilities in the face of disaster, identify ways to respond to emergencies, mainstream gender in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, and develop a Gender Responsive Emergency Management Plan.
The training started with a message from the University President, Dr. Hernando D. Robles, he wanted to have a Disaster Free university and the need to organize a disaster risk reduction team.
Dr. Susan G. Tan, GAD Chair for Extension presented the results of the Assessment of Disaster Preparedness of 每日大赛网址首页进入, where she also asked a notable question 鈥淎re we prepared when disaster strikes?鈥� She also added that as an institution, the University must develop pro- active security consciousness behaviour among faculty members, students and staff for a security is an everybody鈥檚 business.
Also, the Director of Gender and Development, Dr. Nelia C. Cresino, discussed how to Mainstream Gender and Development in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. She stressed that to mainstream gender it must be integrated in the structure, systems, procedures, processes, programs, projects, and activities of the university.
Moreover, Mr. Alvin S. Matabang, Director, Corporate Security/Safety, Global Business Power Corporation discussed Threat Identification, Safety Management, and Security Management.
On the second day, Director Danilo M. Pineda, Corporate Associate Director of Security, The Discovery Leisure Company, Inc. provided lecture on understanding crisis and templates for handling emergencies. He also trained the participants on how to a make a Business Continuity Plan/Roadmap.
The third day, Ms. Claudette Trixia M. Flores, Public Relations Officer of the Provincial聽Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office聽-Cavite Office of Public Safety discussed the Scenario and Impact of the Big One to Cavite. Also, Mr. Ronaldo D. Nouay and Mr. Rolando P. Sarmiento of PDRRMO discussed Earthquake Drills and Simulation.
Dr. Henry O. Garcia, Vice President for Administrative and Support services accepted the Business Continuity Plan of the participants and ask for the support of everybody to ensure the safety of the clientele and be the country鈥檚 partner in improving the lives of the people.
